ArepaZone

ArepaZone is a food truck found around different DC locations on different days. Arepas are a corn-based flatbread from South America and this truck stuffs them with various shredded meats (beef, chicken, pork), toppings (cheese, avocado, beans), and/or sauces.

The truck--so colorful and inviting!

Sifrina: Chicken salad, avocado, shredded cheddar (not the best photo but it was deeeelicious)
  • This is the best arepa that I've ever tasted: fresh, hot, filling, and extremely flavorful
  • Sifrina: High marks for taste, questionable if you're looking for something low calorie since it was filled with some creamy toppings.
  • The arepa is accompanied with small side (watermelon cubes for mine).
  • Despite the DC heat and humidity, there was a 20 minute wait the day I visited in Farragut Square.
  • Many options that are gluten free and vegetarian friendly.  Their website notes, however, they cannot guarantee their facility is 100% g-f but should be safe for those who do not have severe allergies.
Check out their menu and location guide here.
